Frequently Asked Questions

Is there really a yearbook on campus?

Yes! BruinLife has documented UCLA’s history and traditions since its inaugural year in 1919. We are the second-largest student-run publication on campus.

Who buys yearbooks?

A high percentage of our customers are graduating seniors. However, many students are interested in having a yearbook to commemorate each year on campus (click here to learn about our four-year packages). Also, alumni often get in touch with us to purchase a copy from their graduation year.

Is every UCLA student guaranteed to be in the yearbook?

In a word, no. The only portraits in the yearbook are of graduating seniors, so if you are a senior please remember to take your senior photo at Campus PhotoStudio! Click here for details.

We’re always happy to accommodate everyone who wants to be included in the publication. If you’re a member of a student group, fraternity/sorority, club sport, or any other organization, please email us at bruinlife@media.ucla.edu and we will give you further details. Or if you’re really eager to be included individually, send us an email and we may be able to interview you!

How can my group be featured in the yearbook?

Easy! Just send an email to bruinlife.photo@media.ucla.edu with the subject line: “Photo Submission for [group name]” with a preferred time, date, and location you and your group are available for a photoshoot. One of our photographers will contact you to confirm the appointment. Please note that our photographers will only be available for 15 minutes during the scheduled photoshoot and cannot wait for late group members to arrive. Please be prompt!

The deadline for all photos, including submitted and requested, is Friday, March 2nd, 2012.

I am a graduating senior and missed my appointment time to have my portrait photo taken at Campus PhotoStudio. How can I guarantee my picture in the grad section of the 2012 yearbook?

BruinLife cannot guarantee PhotoStudio’s availability to fulfill every request. Please visit the studio on A level of Ackerman Union for details, or visit their website here.

You may take your professional photo(s) at another location and submit your name, photo, and major to BruinLife via email at bruinlife@media.ucla.edu. Please note that your photo must match the photo specifications of those taken at PhotoStudio. Please visit the studio in Ackerman Union to ask for details.

All photos must be submitted to BruinLife Yearbook no later than May 4, 2012.

Can I still pick up a yearbook that I ordered from a previous year?

If you ordered a yearbook within the last few years, there’s a very good chance you can still pick it up. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee availability on orderes that were ordered over four years ago.

Please visit the Student Media front desk of Kerckhoff Hall and tell them you would like to pick up your BruinLife Yearbook. BruinCard or another valid form of ID is required for identification.

What is Senior of the Year and how can I apply?

Every year, BruinLife honors a few outstanding seniors who exemplify the ideals of a well-rounded, highly-involved senior who has made a positive contribution to our university. We publish a double page spreads of each distinguished senior, complete with articles and photos to commemorate their success.

Applications for Senior of the Year are being accepted until April 13, 2012. Completed applications can be turned into the Front Desk of UCLA Student Media at 118 Kerckhoff Hall. If you have any questions please email us – we encourage any and all graduating seniors to apply for this highly-regarded distinction!
