about the award
Each year, the Bruinlife yearbook selects a small group of students who exemplify the ideals of the university. We try to highlight excellence in a variety of forms, including academics, community service or activism in school life. You are invited to apply for the award if you believe you are someone who embodies one or more of these ideals.
a word on the application
The written application process is never perfect because it’s difficult to convey the intangibles of a person’s attributes on paper. Although we ask you to include a resume and letters of recommendations (maximum of 2) with this application, we want to learn as much as we can by asking some questions, too. Your activities and achievements are important, but we also want to learn about the kind of person you are.
deadlines and selection
All applications are due by Friday, April 13, at 5 p.m to 118 Kerckhoff Hall by 5PM. No EXCEPTIONS! After reviewing the nominations, the BruinLife staff will select finalists to interview with the UCLA Communications Board, the board of directors for UCLA’s Student Media, including BruinLife Yearbook. Winners of the award will be featured in the 2012 BruinLife Yearbook.
